Barbara Arrowsmith-Young is a relatively unknown hero and inspiration. Her story, almost unbelievable.
The Creator and Director of Arrowsmith School and Arrowsmith Program
Author of the international best-selling book The Woman Who Changed Her Brain (www.barbaraarrowsmithyoung.com/book).
She faced incredible challenges as a child. She struggled to read, write, or do basic arithmetic, had difficulty understanding time, remembering sequences, and processing spatial information, and often felt frustrated by her inability to keep up with classmates. Despite these obstacles, she developed unique strategies to rewire her own brain, transforming her learning abilities.
She now holds a B.A.Sc. in Child Studies from the University of Guelph, and a Master's degree in School Psychology from the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education). Arrowsmith-Young is recognised as the creator of one of the first practical applications of the principles of neuroplasticity to the treatment of learning disorders.

Her story is featured in Norman Doidge’s influential book, The Brain That Changes Itself, which highlights her remarkable journey of neuroplasticity and self-directed cognitive rehabilitation. Barbara’s experiences continue to inspire educators, therapists, and anyone seeking to overcome learning disabilities through the power of the brain.
